Well I had an exciting evening. I was drying my hair when suddenly there was a flash. At first I thought we blew a circuit. Then there was another flash and I realized a big gout of flame was coming out of my dryer!
I went, “Ack!” and dropped the dryer (it landed in the sink). [...]

teenager Photoshop magic

My daughter is only 13 years old and making slides for her youth group. I must say I am quite impressed at what this girl can do! She’s doing stuff in Photoshop I didn’t even know could be possible, because she takes time to poke around. It sure is fun having a mother-daughter interest in [...]

Being an artist and designer, I think this video is way cool. I really like the first half… The second half fills out the story but the first half is all about creating… very creative!
The Visual Church Leader

I recently started a new blog that I am having a blast with. It’s called The Visual Church Leader and it melds my interest in visual design, spiritual truth, leadership, and communication all in one. It’s kind of a hodge-podge of stuff, but actually all makes sense.
In truth, it’s really a look into the inner [...]
Wandering about Denver

We’ve had a great vacation to Denver! Here are a few of the things we did… didn’t bring my camera but my phone’s pictures didn’t do too badly…
We visited Albert’s sister and brother in law and hung out with them a few days. It was very relaxing and nice just to do simple things like [...]
Pulling off a large scale event with small scale resources

I have posted very little in the past weeks/months, primarily because I have been tied up with some pretty major projects. One of these projects was our summer Vacation Bible School at University Covenant Church. This year the name of the event was somewhat of an amusing journey:
It’s been called VBS for years. But VBS [...]
When non-campers go camping

Our family has not been camping in years. But we decided to do something fun and interesting and went with our friends the Looneys and Nielsens. The funny thing is that our family has only gone camping once or twice, many many years ago. Neither of the other families has ever gone camping as a [...]

This past week I took a 5-day history class.
Yes, it was educational. Yes, I learned a lot. Yes it was required for my ministry licensing.
There were just a few minor problems:
1. I don’t like to study.
2. I don’t really care for history too much.
3. I have a terrible memory for faces, names, dates and events.
4. [...]
another birthday celebration

Today was Glen’s birthday. We decided to surprise him by stopping by impromptu after dinner.
Fortunately, his daughter Hannah was over so she helped us plot how to time it. She texted us after they left the restaurant and when they got home. We immediately hopped into the car and drove over.
Glen answered the door and [...]
birthday celebration

Friday was my birthday! It was one of the best birthdays I have ever had!
The day kicked off with a phone call from my friend Rob wishing me happy birthday and we decided to all get together for dinner that evening because there were no plans for the day.
The my sister Corrie stopped by with [...]
